Microsoft's MO is always the same. Slow to react at first, with sub-par initial offerings but if they put their mind to it will crush all opposition. They may choose to focus on BI if they see opportunity for more SQL Server penetration - business users do not care what the underlying database is.

The question is, if this happens, will Cognos, BO, etc attempt a litigious defence they cannot hope to sustain and go the way of Netscape et al, or will they actually use the skill that got them where they are in the first place and is Microsoft's greatest weakness - innovation?
